NO ACTION WITHOUT INQUIRY: STRATEGIES FOR SOLIDARITY
WPIRG’s 2015 School of Public Interest (SPI) will take place on Thursday, February 5 and Friday, February 6.
This year’s conference will focus on the importance of rooting our politics in a sound understanding of the concept of solidarity and of approaching politics with a serious commitment to thinking through the what, why and how of our campus and community organizing.
We intend the conference to challenge our members to see the pitfalls to an activism not rooted in a collective practice of thinking together about what and how we organize. Hence, “no politics without inquiry”. We also intend the conference to be a space where we can together consider the theory and practice of solidarity as a guide to our current and future political engagement with our campus, fields of work and beyond. We hope the outcome of our collective effort is a stronger grasp of “strategies for solidarity” that can be applied on campus, in future professional fields and workplaces and in our communities.
